Claire E. Shin specializes in bankruptcy and insolvency law and commercial litigation. She practices in all aspects of business bankruptcy and restructuring, and regularly represents debtors, secured and unsecured creditors, equity holders, committees and other parties in interest in Chapter 11 reorganizations, Chapter 7 liquidation proceedings, bankruptcy litigation and out-of-court workouts. She is also experienced in creditors' rights litigation involving real estate property, receivership, guaranty claims and commercial instruments, and merger and acquisition transactions involving distressed assets.
As a commercial litigator, Claire is experienced in handling complex business disputes over contracts, business torts, and real estate property, with extensive experience in litigation involving international parties.
In addition to her bankruptcy and litigation practice, Claire draws upon the expertise of the firm's lawyers in virtually all areas of law, and frequently represents and advises Asian companies doing business in the United States. Claire is fluent in Korean and Japanese and conversant in Mandarin Chinese.
Prior to law school, Claire worked for Asian Pacific American Legal Center and provided services in family, immigration, housing, employment, welfare and consumer law to residents of greater Los Angeles. During law school, she served as a Judicial Extern for the Honorable John R. Tunheim in the District Court for the District of Minnesota.
